McQuaid Baseball Selected to NHSI Tournament

The Knights will travel to Carry, North Carolina for the elite NHSI tournament.

Every year, the top 16 high school baseball teams in America are invited to an exclusive tournament in Cary, NC. The USA Baseball NHSI tournament is an elite national competition meant to discover the best team in the Nation prior to the start of the season, and this year, McQuaid Jesuit has secured a spot in the tournament for the first time in program history.

This is an outstanding accomplishment and a great opportunity for the McQuaid baseball program as they will be competing against the top players in the country from places like Florida and Georgia.

McQuaid pitcher and Binghamton University commit Daniel McAliney ’22 is very excited about his team’s achievement.

“This is a great opportunity for us. We are going to do everything we can as a program to prepare for this opportunity,” McAliney said. “Being considered one of the top 16 high school teams in the country is definitely an honor.”

The Varsity Knights have several returners this season, including multiple D1 commits. Some of the commits are Will Taylor, Edward Hall and Daniel McAliney. These players hope to lead the Knights through the tournament and take them as far they can.

“We are all looking forward to going down to North Carolina together and competing against some of the best high school competition there is,” McAliney said.

The Knights hope that this tournament will prepare them for their upcoming season. Last year the Knights fell short of a Sectional Championship and lost in the second round of playoffs to the Penfield Patriots.
