This school year the McQuaid Jesuit counseling department welcomed a new member.  Mr. John Serafine will serve as Director of Student Counseling and College Advisement.  He came to McQuaid after 32 years of counseling at Fairport High School.

“I felt that it was time in my life to make a change,” Mr. Serafine said.

But Mr. Serafine wasn’t always a school counselor. When he started his career in education, he spent his first six years as a history teacher at Victor High School. 

Though he’s only been working here for a semester, he says that he already feels at home.

“I really love the energy and the camaraderie here,” Mr. Serafine said.

He also likes McQuaid’s high expectations and age-old traditions.  Overall, Mr. Serafine loves it here, so be sure to say hello when you see him in the hallways.
