Erik Johnson ’18 and Noah Campanelli ’19 perform arm related workouts Thurday, in the McQuaid Jesuit weight room. Johnson and Campanelli will play valuable roles for the baseball team this season.

McQuaid Jesuit golf and baseball athletes are preparing for their spring athletic season. Athletes are currently practicing indoors, working out, and doing other related activities during their off season.

Starting in September, the baseball team has been conducting workouts in the weightroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Annual Knights Baseball Camp has also taken place at Diamond Pro in East Rochester. At the camp, both players and coaches have gathered on Sunday afternoons for seven weeks in order to prepare for the upcoming season.

McQuaid junior pitcher and first basemen Ben Hintz is looking forward to the season.“I cannot wait for the upcoming season. We have been preparing for the season all year and I believe with all the training we have gone through we will have a step up on the rest of the surrounding baseball programs in our area,” said Hintz. This will be Hintz’s first year on varsity.

The golf team has also been preparing for the upcoming season. The Knights are continuing to gather at Fore Performance in Henrietta. The Knights utilize Fore Performance’s simulators, and short game area. The Knights will have nine returining players for the 2018 season.

McQuaid junior golf team captain Jack Bailey likes his team’s chances. “Our team is really strong this year and we will be playing to win every match in the regular season and then to win another Team Sectional title. We have learned a lot from last season and we are prepared to be very competitive this season,” said Bailey. Bailey has been a member of the varsity squad since he was a freshman.

Overall, both the golf and baseball programs are looking to have a successful season.
