The McQuaid Knights have been destroying their competition this season and will have a shot at winning their 16th indoor Section V held March 4 at the Pinnacle Athletic Complex.

The indoor track team has been a powerhouse in Section V for the last twenty years with eight titles since 2005. The Knight’s won last year’s sectional title by 43.5 points. This year, the Knights are currently seeded to win by more than 20 points.

The Knights are confident they have what it takes to win a second consecutive title. Until recently, there was no sectionals planned for this season. But the Knights were ready either way.

“There’s definitely a shot at winning, it’s hard to tell before it happens,” says, Mike Himlin, ‘22.

“Without a doubt,” proclaims a confident Josh Mauro, ‘22.

The athletes are just grateful to be able to compete and showcase their talents in a year where everything is uncertain.

“I’m grateful that we get to compete this year and that we even have a season,” says Himlin, ‘22.

If the Knights win this year’s sectional championship, not only will it be their second consecutive win, but it will be their 16th sectional title. That would solidify their place at the top of the totem pole for sports at McQuaid Jesuit.
