The McQuaid Jesuit varsity basketball team beat archrival Aquinas for the second time this season on Feb. 11 by a score of 82-75. The Knights improved to 14-4 on the season, and are one win away from setting their best win mark since 2004.

How It Happened:

• McQuaid got off to a hot start, out scoring Aquinas 19-12 in the first quarter.
• McQuaid was led in scoring by Jermaine Taggart, ‘20, who had 30 points. He scored 13 of the points in the second quarter and 10 points in the fourth quarter. He shot 50 percent from the field and had 7 rebounds.
• Kobe Long, ‘20, scored 27 points; 19 of his points were scored in the second half. He shot 42 percent from three-point range and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line. He also had 8 rebounds.
• Connor Zamiara, ‘19, scored 14 points. He shot 78 percent from the field.
• Harry Bruu, ‘19, had a diverse stat line, with 8 rebounds to go along with 6 assists.
• McQuaid outrebounded Aquinas 38-27.
• McQuaid had a team total of 20 assists.
• McQuaid shot 83 percent from the free throw line.

    McQuaid’s next game is Wednesday, Feb. 13, against Leadership Academy. It is the last regular season game, and it is also senior night.
