McQuaid Wins on Senior Night
The McQuaid Jesuit varsity basketball beat Leadership in the regular season finale on Feb. 13 by a score of 75-63.
It was senior night, and each senior contributed to the final score as all of them played.
The Knights advanced to 15-4 on the season and achieved their best win mark since 2004, the team current head coach Jack Leasure played for.
How It Happened:
- Junior Jermaine Taggart led the team in scoring with 22 points. He shot an efficient 63 percent from the field, and 100 percent from the free throw line.
- Junior Kobe Long scored 18 points and hit a career mark of 1000 career points. He also had 10 rebounds.
- Junior Reuben Daniel had 11 points and 2 blocks.
- Senior Connor Zamiara had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
- The senior class scored 24 points total as a group.
- McQuaid shot 56 percent from the field as a team.
- McQuaid outrebounded Leadership 41-24.
- McQuaid had 23 assists total as a team.
McQuaid clinched the number 3 seed in Sectionals with the win. They will play the winner of the 6-11 game, which features Webster Thomas and Victor. The game is at home on Feb. 22.
