McQuaid Overcomes Niagara Falls in Overtime
On Dec. 15, the McQuaid Jesuit Basketball Team took on the number 9 team in the state in Niagara Falls. This was a heavy-weight matchup as both teams are ranked top 10 in the state in class AA.
McQuaid won 76-69 in an overtime thriller that was a rematch of the regional matchup last season where McQuaid won.
How It Happened:
- McQuaid trailed 33-25 at halftime before outscoring Niagara Falls 29-17 in the third quarter.
- Jermaine Taggart, ’20 led McQuaid in the third quarter, scoring 15 points.
- The game went into overtime where Kobe Long, ‘20 scored 5 points and Taggart scored 6.
- McQuaid was led in scoring by Taggart with 28 points and Long with 23.
- Connor Zamiara, ‘19 scored 13 points to go with 7 rebounds.
- Jon Catone, ‘19 scored 8 points with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. This also came with many hustle plays he made to fuel the team.
- Harry Bruu, ‘19 had 11 rebounds.
- McQuaid outrebounded Niagara Falls 38-31.
- McQuaid shot 55 percent from the floor compared to Niagara Falls’ 38 percent.
