McQuaid knocked off Aquinas 35-14 in the sectional semifinals Friday to send the Knights to their fifth straight sectional final. This highly anticipated game had Tom Seymour Field filled with fans from both Aquinas and McQuaid, with a full and loud Simba section for the Knights.
McQuaid scored first, and after a Dominic Sansone field goal, the Knights went up 10-0 in the first quarter. Aquinas rallied in the second quarter and gave the Little Irish a 14-10 lead at halftime.
The Knights did not seem flustered at all, as after scoring 25 unanswered points they were well on their way to their eighth straight victory over AQ. McQuaid is set to take on University Prep Charter School at 1 p.m. Saturday at Victor High School in the Section V class AA championship. UPrep beat Hilton 22-14 on Friday night.
McQuaid is looking to make history in class AA, as they hope to become the first team to win five straight Section V championships. Will the Knights make history and continue on route to a state championship, or will Uprep cut McQuaid’s season short?
