Dungeons and Dragons Club Gets Ready to Roll

Get your dice bags ready and prepare to roll for initiative when you decide to join the McQuaid Jesuit Dungeons and Dragons Club.

The Dungeons and Dragons Club held its first meeting earlier this school year and since then has grown beyond its estimated interest. Now hosting over 30 members, there is a wealth of creativity to be found in the meetings and play sessions for the Club.

Club members have a wide range of previous play time, ranging from complete beginners to seasoned adventurers. Senior Rene Ouimet shared his experience as a new player and whether or not he believes students should give it a try.

“Oh yeah, definitely!” Rene said. “Especially if they’re trying to just look for new things to do. It’s good for the creativity, so yes, I would recommend it.”

The club offers a great learning environment that is very beginner-friendly. You shouldn’t be intimidated by starting such a detailed game because experienced players and the Dungeon Masters (also known as DMs) are there to help teach and guide you on your path of adventure. Afterall, the club was founded to help teach and introduce a whole new group of people to the game that they love.

Club Co-Founder, senior Frankie Camp remarked about founding the club.

“I love DnD. I feel like it’s a really good way for people to get their writing out there.” Frankie said. “To get the characters out of their mind and do something creative, and I want to give that to as many people as possible.”

While the club was founded with the idea of teaching new members in mind, it was also founded to give already experienced players a place to play the game they love. From unique stories to a well developed in-game world, there are many reasons for a returning player to join the Dungeons and Dragons club. Veteran player and senior Ian Lukowski shared that he has quite enjoyed the unique experience he gets playing in both a party inside and outside of school.

Dungeons and Dragons club was founded and designed for students to be able to have fun playing a great game surrounded by like-minded individuals. Interested students should find Frankie Camp, ‘19, Delancey Hobbs, ‘19, or Ethan LaFranco, ‘19 in the halls before or after school to discuss more about the club.
